Winter In Wagga Wagga Report

1. What kind of research should be done prior to deciding on the form your promotional piece will take? Where and how will you conduct this research?
Background research on wagga, winter events in wagga, any other promotional mediums that have been used before, the information centre, waggas website and just general knowledge.

2. Why did you decide on this particular medium?
A DL flyer would be the most effective way to showcase wagga wagga through my idea. This medium can be easily distributed and actually held by the audience but unlike a booklet it is very compact yet practical. The information is straightforward and easy to comprehend. My concept is a set of five DL flyers (1000 of each) which promote people to come to wagga, through a range of activates. My flyers included Sport as wagga is famous for its athletes and it's important to promote the great achievements. Art gallery because its also a very great place for tourist to go and i think it is very under promoted which is bad because many people don't even know that wagga has so much to offer in the arts. Atmosphere the great small town or big city feel that wagga has on everyone. Enjoyment because people want to have fun and enjoy their stay so they come back so promoting the fun thing to see and do was logical. Nightlife because wagga does have a nightlife and there is a variety of place to suite everybody. Each has a blurb on the back with information about what there is in wagga and what type of place it is, then a map of the specific place or the wagga wagga information centre, and contact details.

3. What resources will you require for developing your piece?
Money would be the first resource required for developing this piece others would include Photographs, Printers (stock ect), Software, Research/Information.

4. Can you foresee any factors that may impact on your selection and use of resources?
Yes there are several factors that may have an impact on the selection and use of resources this includes a budget, quality of the photographs and if i would be sourcing which would then cost more and effect the budget, Cost of printer and the stock which would be gloss because it looks nicer, lasts longer and people would be more attracted to it than a matt or semi-gloss print. Lack of information on specific events and on goings in wagga which would really help attract tourist if they knew what is actually offered.

5. What has been the feedback from colleagues about your design concept?
Good concept my logo needed work so i went and made a few until i made one which suited the job but was also strong and looked good.

6. What are the benefits of exposing your design to quality checks and ongoing analysis?
Progression, my design or any design grows when checked and reviews and changed through time it gets better and also eliminates any flaws although looking/working on something over long periods of time isn't good as you miss the flaws so again this is very beneficial as you see things they you may not have seen before. This is evident with my logo design and also the flyers in general, i went through many drafts and ideas before I stuck to one and built on that.

7. How will your promotional piece assist in meeting the project’s intended outcome?
The intended outcome is to promote winter in wagga wagga to attract tourists. My piece will assist in promoting wagga in winter as it creates curiosity and informs people, in turn they will come to check out wagga.

8. How could you encourage your client to allocate more in their budget for this project?
I explained my concept and how it would benefit wagga by attracting tourists, I also explained the difference between the quality of the flyers printed in different stocks and that it would be beneficial and shows how much we care about promoting wagga. Also I believe that attracting tourist would raise business in wagga which is always good.

9. In what ways could you present your design concept to the client to entice them into going ahead with your project idea? How will you present the final piece to your client
Through a presentation, and a pitch promoting my design concept selling the product and its features and outcomes, also the outcome of the client and how my concept meets there outcome. I would present the final piece to my client in person by showcasing them the piece, and also handing them an actual copy.

I have decided to go with CMYK Colour Online because they are incredibly cheaper they offer the same service and i don't see any losses. As i am on a budget if we can save money I think the client will be happy and that it can be put towards another resource such as the photography.
